She was born in Los Angeles July 25, 1924 and had been a resident of Oxnard for 55 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon Chavez Castaneda, who went with the Lord in 2005 and whom she truly missed., Our mother will always be remembered in our hearts; she leaves a legacy of being a strong, vigilant mother., Ernestina is survived by her lovely children, Antonia Hartman, Carlos Castaneda, Alejandrina C. Gonzalez, Lucy Castaneda, Frank Castaneda and Danny Castaneda; 25 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren., Visitation will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, with the recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. at Camino del Sol Funeral Home, Oxnard. Funeral mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, Oxnard, with burial to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery, Oxnard. Cecile Girouard Findley Cecile Girouard Findley, age 80, wife of the late Bernard M. Findley, entered eternal rest on Saturday, December 26, 2009, at Danbury Hospital.She was born in Berlin, New Hampshire on August 20,1929, daughter of the late Evangelist Girouard and Mary Bergeron Girouard. Cecile was a devoted member of St. Peters Church. She enjoyed a 55-year nursing career which included many years at the Danbury Hospital and Danbury area Nursing homes, retiring from Pope John-Paul Nursing home in 2005. Cecile’s enjoyment and love of her life were her Husband and their 7-children, 14-grandchildren and 3-great-grandchildren. Her loving family includes her Son’s Steven Findley and his wife Diane of Clinton Ct and Bernard S. Findley and his wife Sarah of Newtown, Ct,; Her Daughters, Donna Testani and her husband Mike of Brookfield Ct., Jeannette Findley of Danbury Ct., Karen Peck and her husband Roger of New Milford Ct., and Michelle DeFaria and her husband Ailton of Danbury Ct.; Her brothers Adrien Girouard of Tupper Lake N.Y., Lucien Girouard of Lewiston Me.; Her sisters Jeanne Hyde of Clearwater Fl., Germaine Cote of Rotunda West Fl, Pauline Sylvia of Pawtucket R.I.; Her Grandchildren Dan Testani of Palm Harbor, FL., Jennifer Testani of Brookfield, Ct., Stephanie Worthley of Norton, Ma., Kimberly Findley of Quincy, Ma., Bethany Fantasia of Watertown, Ma, Jessica Fiallo of Pine Plains, N.Y., Nickolle and Vanessa Andrade of Danbury Ct., Alissa, Olivia and Savannah DeFaria of Danbury Ct., Camryn, Madison and Sawyer Findley of Newtown Ct, 3-Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and her best-friend and sister-in-law Geraldine Findley of Danbury. Cecile was predeceased by her Daughter Patricia, her brothers, Armand, Romeo, Lionel and her sisters, Lucienne, Rita and Therese. A Mass OF Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peter Church on Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Green Funeral Home 57 Main St., Danbury on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.

John Clark was born Feb. 24, 1920 in Dorchester, Mass.; he passed away Dec. 20, 2009 after being a resident of Oxnard for 46 years. John entered the U.S. Navy in Canton, Ohio on June 9, 1937. He served 30 years, rising through the ranks to that of Lieutenant. He survived the attack on Pearl Harbor while serving on board the USS Downs. While on the USS McCall he was involved in the Marshalls and Gilberts Doolittle raid. John went on to serve on several more ships before finally being assigned to the Pacific Missile Range. In between sea duty, John had assignments at Yale University where he served as a Naval Science Instructor in Ordnance and Gunnery and at Johns Hopkins University where he served as a Bureau of Naval Weapons Representative at the Applied Physics Lab. While Lt. Clark was assigned to the Pacific Missile Range his duties included serving as the Instrumentation Officer on Johnston Island and the USNS Range Tracker for Operation Dominic. Later he served as Missile Flight Safety Officer working primarily on the development and training launches for missile defense systems. Altogether, 30 years of military and 15 years of private industry relied heavily on the care and expertise of John. John now leaves his loving wife of 66 years; Amelia. Together they raised five beautiful children, John, Raymond, Michael, Susan and Mary Ann. John must now leave them behind on what will be another exciting journey. He also leaves behind his eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two delightful cats. After private services for the family, John’s ashes will be scattered at sea by the U.S. Navy. In loving memory of “CC”. Carole Sue Cooley, our beautiful, so-giving mother, sister, daughter, grandma, friend, and hero left her earthly home Thanksgiving Day just before Thanksgiving Dinner (fighting a valient fight against lymphoma cancer) to share it with her Lord and Savior., Carole would put you to shame when it came to never giving up and thankfulness. Maybe that’s why God took her Thanksgiving Day. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; bless His name. For the Lord is good; His loving kindness is everlasting. And His faithfulness to all generations., She was preceded in death by her father, George Coleman Harrington and her husband of 26 years Daniel Wilbur Cooley. Carole Sue is survived by her mother Carlene Ada Harrington, her two sons, Herb Cooley and wife Susan, Todd Cooley , and two daughters Sara James and husband Doug and Susan Ludwick and husband Kurt, 13 grandchildren, Helen, Hannah-Bear, Daniel, Emily (Ohmee), Miss Sara, Stevie George, Caleigh (LuLu), Scott, Brett, Chris, Grant, Claudia and Abi; her loving sister Georgia Sharon (Harrington) Newman and her brother-in-law Mel Newman, her nephew Roy A. Newman, her niece Kara Ann Newman, her cousins Billy McCollum and Janet Lawrence and many other cousins, her childhood friend Gail Wigger, and her faithful dog Sage., Her most favorite job was being a homemaker for her four children when they were young, and she left them with many happy memories. She helped coach their sporting events and was always involved with her childrens’ activities; loved collecting antiques; garage selling; traveling all over the US from Mount St. Helens to Myrtle Beach and Morro Bay; she spent her younger years growing up in Cairo, Egypt and Paris, France with her mother, father and sister; she loved to run and ran in many 10K races, she had a natural ability to play the piano, she loved horses and all animals; she loved picnics; she loved the ocean. She always loved the anticipation of visiting her children and grandchildren and every moment with them. She was currently working for Ventura County Community College District at Oxnard College Fire Tech Academy. She loved her job and all of her many friends there, and the family would like to thank them for all of their support and love. She will be forever loved and missed greatly until we see her and be with her also in Glory with the Lord forever., The family was blessed by the ladies from Livingston Hospice in Ventura and The Reverend Canon Jerome Kahler. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the charity of your choice.

JOINER, DENNY Sept. 8, 1926 to Dec. 15, 2009 Orrin Joiner (Denny) was born September 8, 1926, at home in North Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Orrin and Marion Joiner. He worked as a cook on the railroad the summer of his junior year in high school and joined the Navy in June of 1944 when he graduated. He was an enlisted man for seven years until he earned his pilot’s wings at North Island Naval base in Coronado, CA in 1951. He married Margaret Alice Dicks in the chapel on the base on April 9th upon graduation as an Ensign. He spent thirty years in the Navy and retired as the Operations Officer of North Island at the rank of Commander, a veteran of three wars. He went back to school to learn more about computers and continued his work for the developmentally disabled for 15+ years on the boards of the Association of Retarded Citizens - San Diego, and Starlight Center in Chula Vista overseeing the building of a new workshop, which was named in his honor. He developed macular degeneration and volunteered at the San Diego Center for the Blind teaching computer classes. He is survived by four children, Gregory and his wife, Barb of San Jacinto, CA; Cindy and Peggy of Chula Vista and Spring Valley, CA, respectively; and Richard and his wife, Judy of San Diego, CA; his sister, Flora Hutchinson of Fort Worth, Texas; and brother, Max of North Saint Paul, Minnesota, and three grandchildren. Services will be held at St. Charles Church, 990 Saturn Blvd., (south) San Diego, CA 92154, on Friday, January 8th, 2010, at 12 p.m. His ashes will be interred with his wife’s at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Noah Homes Inc., 12526 Campo Road, Spring Valley, CA, in lieu of flowers.
