BUTLER, MARIJANE (BAKER)
Marijane Butler (ne’e Baker) Passed away on Tuesday morning, January 19, 2010, in Sebastopol, CA. She was 78 years old at the time of her death. Marijane was born in San Francisco, CA on December 6, 1931 to Don R. Baker and Agnes McCormick. Her father was a native of Missouri who worked for Pacific Electric Manufacturing Co. Ms. Butler’s stepfather, Ernest G. Albury, passed away in Santa Rosa in 1983. Her mother was a native San Franciscan, whose father, Peter McCormick, was active in city affairs and served as leader of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. Ms. Butler married in the 1950s to Robert Filthuth. She resided in Marin County for many years and worked in San Francisco for the Chubb Group of insurance companies. In 1973 she moved to “A” section in Rohnert Park, where she owned a home not far from her mother and her mother’s second husband, Ernest G. Albury. She married a second time to William R. Butler in 1975, and lived with him in San Rafael. After William’s death, Marijane moved to the west Sebastopol area. Marijane purchased a small ranch there and lived with her mother, who passed away in 1996. Marijane was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her mother’s siblings: Aileen McCormick, John McCormick, Evelyn Davenport, Claire McCormick, Edith Hall, Gertrude McCormick, and Peter J. McCormick, Jr. She is survived by her cousins Christy Raposo of Valley Springs, CA, Nanette Galloway of Willits, CA, and James Galloway, also of Willits, her great nieces, Liese Rapozo, Amber Pac and Tabitha Marshall and her great nephews William Marshall and Anthony Cisneros. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sonoma County Humane Society, 5345 Highway 12, Santa Rosa. Interment will be at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park & Mortuary in Sebastopol.

Bacon, Dr. Joseph C.
He was born in Bakersfield, on Nov. 12, 1919. He received his medical degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1943, and joined the Navy as a doctor. During WWII, he served in the Pacific on the USS St. Mary’s, a troop transport ship, and participated in the Battle of Okinawa. During the Korean War, he served as the radiologist aboard the USS Haven, a naval hospital ship. While in the Navy, he had training in radiology at the University of Pennsylvania, Graduate School of Medicine (1948), and Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital in New York City (1954)., He resigned his commission from the Navy in 1955 with the rank of Commander. He had a private practice of radiology in San Diego for 10 years before moving to Ojai in 1965. He became well known in the community as the hospital radiologist. “Joe” was an avid hiker, backpacker, runner, and bicyclist and nature lover. In retirement, he became an amateur botanist, taking classes at Ventura Junior College., He was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Ann in 1968 and his brother David of Lexington, Mass ., He is survived by Florence, his wife of 66 years of Ojai; his son Kirk, who grew up in Ojai , of Encinitas; his daughter Joan Pech of Piedmont; and five grandchildren., Joe’s life will be celebrated at a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday Jan. 30, at the Ojai Presbyterian Church.

Joe was born on June 14, 1934 in Minot, ND. He moved to California with his family in 1952. On Feb. 14, 1950 Joe met the love of his life Darlene. They were married on Oct. 1, 1954 and celebrated their 55 anniversary in 2009. Joe enjoyed woodworking and making wooden toys with the San Joaquin Fine Woodworkers Assoc. for underprivileged children. Joe was preceded in death by his Mother, Eva; Father, Ross; Sister, Ardyce; and Brother, Burton. Joe is survived by his wife, Darlene; Sons, Greg of Clovis, Tom of Highland and their wives, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, Sister, Darlene of Sanger and Brother, Burton. Visitation will be held at Boice Funeral Home, at on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 from 2:00 till 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Boice Funeral Home, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28. In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be sent to San Joaquin Fine Woodworkers Assoc., P.O. Box 3132, Visalia, Ca. 9377-3132. Beth Miller
Beth E. Miller Entered into rest January 23, 2010. Born in Alameda, CA February 20, 1919, Beth was preceded in death by her husband, George (Bud) Miller and daughter Patricia Miller. She is survived by children, Judy and husband Joe Cressa, sons, Chris Miller, Peter Miller, and wife Laurie. She will be fondly remembered by grandchildren Matthew and wife Julie, Laura and husband Dominic Le, and Gregory Miller. Great-grandchildren Dominic and Joseph Cressa, Samantha and Josie Le were her pride and joy. Beth and Bud were married in 1937 and raised their family in San Francisco and Daly City. In 1987, after the death of her husband she moved to Campbell, CA where she could continue her love of gardening, entertaining, and visiting her grandchildren. While living in Campbell, she worked for the Triton Museum of Art as the gift shop manager. It was a job she truly enjoyed and at which she excelled. Beth will be remembered for her marvelous sense of humor and her love for all the family. She will be greatly missed. The family will be holding private services.
