Christine Brinkley of Vallejo, California, passed away at home on Thursday, March 4. Born Christine Alice Hinz in Visalia, California, Christine lived many years in Sacramento before moving to Vallejo., She married Garland Brinkley in 1970 and raised a son while having a successful career as a computer programmer. She worked for companies such as Systemhouse and Cellular One, and achieved a bachelor’s degree in computer science from National University. Christine moved to Vallejo in 1996, and attended the University of California, Berkeley, receiving a second bachelor’s degree in molecular and cellular biology. She was an enthusiastic advocate for animal welfare and environmental causes, and active in volunteer efforts and community groups such as the Red Hat Society., In her battle with multiple sclerosis of many years, Christine was comforted by her companion dogs, Gypsy, Brandy and Shadow. She is survived by her husband and best friend, Garland; her son, grandson, three brothers, sister, nieces and nephews., A memorial service for Christine is being held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 11, at Colonial Chapels at 1000 Redwood St. in Vallejo. The family asks that donations be made to Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Road, Kanab, UT 84741, (435) 644-2001.
