Neal Custodero, devoted family member and friend, creative engineer, insightful photographer, and inspired chef, died Friday morning, March 26, as a result of a brain aneurysm at the age of 53. He will live forever in the hearts of those who loved him: his partner of 35 years, Lori Almeida; his five siblings, Craig, Brian, David, Stephanie, and Mark; and countless others in his international circle of family and friends. Neal graduated from Simi Valley High School and CSUN. He worked in the areas of ocean engineering, special effects, and science education in Ventura County and New York City. Age 81, a 34 year resident of Santa Clarita, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010 in Murrieta, California. He was born August 27, 1928 in St. Joseph, Missouri. Mr. O’Dell served our country proudly in the U.S. Army. He worked as an extra in the motion picture industry, but spent most of his career employed by Anheuser-Busch for 37 years. He is survived by his beloved children, Deborah K. (Leland) Manandic, Michael D. (Charlene) O’Dell, and Mark A. O’Dell; four grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Dewey enjoyed playing his guitar, wheeling and dealing, welding, painting cars and building cars. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and he loved his babies. Survivors include: Wife, Mary Hill of Colusa; sons, Lee R. Hill, Chester A. L. Hill, Lonny J. Hill, Robert D.Hill, Mark A. Hill; daughters, Janet S. Davis, Debra A. Schantz; sisters, Jeanne McCana, Loretta Sutliff, Betty Ellison, Bonnie Stone, Bea Jones; brother, Ronald Hill; 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Dr. Michael A. Severen 61, of Yuba City passed away peacefully March 26, 2010 at his home. He was born May 20, 1948 in Berkeley, CA to Eugene and Joyce Severen, both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated with honors for U.C. Davis, receiving a Bachelors of Science degree in 1973. He was a lifelong member of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society. After a bike tour of Europe in the summer of 1973, Dr. Severen enrolled at the University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco. There he received his Doctorate of Dentistry. Dr. Severen practiced dentistry in Yuba City for 30 years. He was a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, Butte Sierra Dental Society, and the California Bluegrass Association. He worshiped at River Valley Christian Fellowship. Dr. Severen was a self taught Bluegrass banjo player who handcrafted several of the banjos he played. He was a member of Homemade Jam, a bluegrass band that has entertained at many local civic functions. After his retirement he became a member of the International Plastic Model Society. His life was shared with his wife Lauren of Yuba City, and daughter Christine of San Francisco. He is also survived by three brothers, Denny and David Severen of Dallas, TX, Jack Severen of San Marcos, CA, as well as his much beloved aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Taylor of Kilgore, TX. A service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at the home of Dr. & Mrs. Victor Savage, 4950 Railroad, Ave., Yuba city. Casual dress for the service is preferred. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Dr. Severen’s name to Yuba-Sutter Young Life or to A Woman’s Friend. Arrangements under the direction of Ullrey Memorial Chapel. Send Condolences
