Anthony “Tony” C. Bartolo Born in Malta on 12/7/33, passed away peacefully at home on 5/26/10 surrounded by his loving family. Dearly beloved husband of 58 years to Saverina “Sally”, loving father of Joyce (John) Falzon, Connie D’Ambra, Doris (Dan) Cvitanich, and Raymond (Lisa) Bartolo. Cherished Nanu of Marissa and Christopher Falzon, Frank Cvitanich, Jennifer Bartolo, Mark and Angela D’Ambra and Cassandra Francesconi. Beloved brother-in-law to Mary Portelli, Tony (Polly) Attard, Joe (Rita) Attard and Carmel Borg. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers and is survived by sister, Clara Borg and many nieces and nephews. Tony served proudly in the British Navy, stationed in Malta from 1953-1963. To provide for a better life, he and his family immigrated to Toronto, Canada in 1963 and then on to Los Angeles, California in 1969, finally settling in So. San Francisco in 1971. He loved trains and spent the majority of his career as a train mechanic for the Canadian National Railroad and Southern Pacific until his retirement in 1996. Tony will be remembered for his love of gardening, cooking and his beloved dogs. But most importantly, he will be cherished for his deep love and strong dedication to his grateful family. He will be dearly missed by all and his acts of kindness and generosity will never be forgotten. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 from 4 PM until 8 PM and attend the Vigil service at 7 PM at CHAPEL OF THE HIGHLANDS, 194 Millwood Dr. at El Camino Real in Millbrae. The Funeral will leave the Chapel on Wedesday, June 2, 2010, 9:30 AM and proceed to St. Veronica’s Church, 434 Alida Way, South San Francisco where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM. Committal will follow the service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Kaiser Hospice Services, 4131 Geary Blvd., 3rd Floor, S.F., CA 94118.
