Elsie Carboni
Elsie A. Carboni, age 87, of Ridgefield, wife of the late Dino Carboni died on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Danbury Hospital. Mrs. Carboni was born in Ridgefield, August 22, 1922, a daughter of the late Cesare and Theresa (Buzzi) Zandri. She attended Ridgefield schools and had worked as a domestic on private estates as well as a cook at St. Mary’s Parish, Ridgefield and a caterer in the Ridgefield area along with Annie Tulipani and staff. Mrs. Carboni was a member of the Italian American Ladies Mutual Aid Society and St. Mary’s Parish, both of Ridgefield. The life of a party, Mrs. Carboni’s wit and humor go unmatched along with her care and concern for her family and friends. She will be sorely missed. She is survived by a son, Edward “Chuck” Carboni and his wife, Judy of Danbury; a daughter, Dolly Valentine of Bainbridge Island, Washington; a brother, Joseph Zandri and his wife, Maureen of Coral Springs, Florida; a sister, Ethel Garbin of Indiana; four grandchildren, a great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Dino Carboni Jr.; two brothers, Edward Zandri and James Zandri and three sisters, Frances Strauss, Mary Belin and Jean Conte. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 10:15 AM in St. Mary’s Church, Ridgefield. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Friday, July 30th from 5 to 8 p.m. Contributions in Elsie’s memory and honor may be made to the Resident’s Recreation Fund, Danbury Health Care, 107 Osborne St., Danbury, CT 06810.
